I assumed my duties in Riyadh as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 22 December 2017.
Turkey and Saudi Arabia share close relations, based on deep-rooted history, cultural and social connections. The cooperation that exists in all fields between our two countries is the natural consequence of the brotherhood of our nations that share a common history and identical values. Furthermore, the frequency of the high-level visits between Turkey and Saudi Arabia reflect the level of our relations.
In recent years, the relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia have grown steadily. Furthermore, cooperation between Turkey and the Kingdom has been very important for the security and stability of the region, and both countries are G20 members.
Our economic and commercial relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been growing fast. The annual trade volume between the two countries exceeds 5 billion US Dollars, while not reflects the real potential. The value of projects undertaken by the Turkish construction companies in Saudi Arabia during the last decade reached 23 billion US Dollars, and in return, the volume of Saudi direct investments is about 2 billion US Dollars. The number of Saudi tourists who visited Turkey in 2018 is around 750,000. We are only pleased with the growing interest of the Saudi people towards Turkey.
We need the valuable support of our dear citizens and Saudi friends to further improve the Turkish-Saudi relations. I am fully confident that our citizens, whom we consider as our cultural envoys to the Kingdom, will not hold back from providing the same kind of support and contribution they have always given to our Embassy.
Your opinions and suggestions really matter to us. In this regard, I would like to reiterate once again that the doors of our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate General in Jeddah will be open to everyone as they have always been.
On behalf of the Embassy staff, I would like to present our sincere greetings to our dear citizens and Saudi friends.
